Introduction to I Thessalonians

In today’s episode, we are beginning a new series: “Encouragement for Troubled Times”.

The Apostle Paul wrote 2 letters to his beloved church at Thessalonica. We know those letters as I & II Thessalonians.

Paul established the Thessalonian church during his second missionary journey where he was accompanied by Silas, Timothy, and Dr. Luke.

Paul’s ministry in Thessalonica was fruitful even though he had to leave the city due to persecution. However, he had invested his very life in the young church and he loved them dearly.

The two letters are written from the perspective of a faithful pastor encouraging his flock to grow spiritually and to endure tribulation and persecution with the great hope of the return of Jesus Christ.

We will have 2 studies in this series:

  • I Thessalonians: Persevering in Holiness, Steadfast in Hope
  • II Thessalonians: Watching, Waiting, Working

Let’s get started with an introduction to the book of I Thessalonians.
