Introduction to the Minor Prophets

Lesson Summary:

Welcome to the introduction of our series Majoring on the Minors: A Study of the Minor Prophets!

Why do a study of the Minor Prophets? First of all, I love studying the Old Testament. I know that all Scripture is breathed by God and profitable for His people (2 Timothy 3:16).

When we as Christians neglect the reading and teaching of the O.T., I feel we are missing on something God wants us to know.

There are 12 books classified as the Minor Prophets. Not because they are lesser in importance, but because their length is shorter compared to the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel and Daniel.

The ministry of the Minor Prophets extends from the beginning of the Divided Kingdom (after Solomon’s death) through fall of both the Northern Kingdom of Israel (722 B.C.) and the Southern Kingdom of Judah (586 B.C.) and finally ending in the Post Exile era.
