Outline and Lesson Goal

Principles and Applications

I. Failure to Do the Right Thing (Micah 3:1-4)

  • Principle: Godly Leaders Serve People instead of Themselves.
  • Application: What are you doing in your sphere of influence to ensure justice is carried out? How are you leading your family in doing the right thing?
  • Scripture Reference

42 Calling them to Himself, Jesus *said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great men exercise authority over them.
43 But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant;
44 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all.
Mark 10:42-44 (NASB)

II. Failure to Preach the Truth (Micah 3:5-8)

  • Principle: Godly Leaders Unapologetically Speak the Truth of God’s Word.
  • Application: How are you leading your family to hear and learn the truth of God’s Word?
  • Scripture Reference

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:
preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,
2 Timothy 4:1-3 (NASB)

III. Failure of the Nation (Micah 3:9-12)

  • Principle: Ungodly Leaders Will Lead a Nation Towards Destruction.
  • Application: How are you praying for your nation and your leaders? How are you asking God to intervene to reverse the path toward destruction?
  • Scripture Reference

First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,
for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
I Timothy 2:1-3 (NASB)
